After a gastric bypass vitamins are not absorped properly, because of the reduced volume of the stomach and the rerouting of the small intestine. The first part of the small intestine (duodenum) is displaced. That is the part where vitamins are normally absorbed. It is required to ingest special multivitamins after this surgery.
